blasphemy

Considering that: 1. My debate coach is the master of feminism, sex, and religion issues (and we've debated about these themes a lot), 2. I respect people's freedom of speech, and actually do not give a damn about it, and 3. I'm a very very liberal moslem myself, I thought blasphemy would do nothing to me.

So guess what? It DOES offend me.

Realizing that i'm actually mad at this particular person because he offended my religion made me kind of surprised. I'm not that religious after all. Not at all. I mean, really. I don't care about people's religion. I don't care if a Christian doesn't go to church. I don't care if a Hindu eats meat. I won't stare with my mouth wide open if I see a moslem eats pork. I don't even care if someone is an atheist. I believe that religion, which is a form of relationship between human and God, is your own responsibility. And what i believe in might be different with everybody else's, and I have NO RIGHT to interfere with something as personal as religion. Not that I care.

If people say something 'weird' about my religion, in this case is Islam, I'll just laugh, and I'll explain. But today, someone said something, something that I couldn't laugh at, about my religion. Really. Before today, I honestly thought that blasphemy should be okay, people should not take it as an offense, since it's a form of freedom of expression. But now, I'd like to state that IF you want to keep the world peace and safe, you need to basically abolish all possibility to make other people get mad at you. For example, blasphemy. If you don't have any strong urge to do that (in which i doubt that there IS any good reason to intentionally offend other people's religion), then just shut your face.
